Mission:

The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children, individuals, families and the Island community by helping all people realize their fullest potential through development of the spirit, mind and body.

Major Programs:

The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard is committed to offering a variety of programs to serve families, youth, individuals, seniors and teens.  Our programs encompass a wide range of activities based on our primary areas of focus, including:

Healthy Living
At the Y, adults and youth receive the support, guidance and resources needed to achieve better health and well-being. Our fitness programs are offered at little or no cost to members, and include: over 48 group exercise classes that strengthen the body and mind; personal training which offers a customized fitness routine in a one-on-one or group setting; and aqua fitness classes, lap swim, and recreational swim time in our Swartz Foundation Aquatics Center.

Youth Development
Through our youth programs such as the Alexandra Gagnon Teen Center, after school, summer camp, learn-to-swim, and child watch, our Island youth are taking a greater interest in learning; making smarter life choices; and cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, the pursuit of higher education and goal achievement.

Social Responsibility
The Y collaborates with community partners to offer job-training opportunities, community events, and specialized programming to meet our community’s needs. The Y also helps people give back and assist their neighbors by offering opportunities to volunteer, advocate and support programs that strengthen community.

Other Information:
The YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard is a non-profit cause-driven organization whose success depends on the charitable contributions of our generous donors. At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn and grow. No matter what the form of the gift, support from members and friends allows the YMCA of Martha’s Vineyard to provide mission-based support to our members and to our community at large.
