Mission:

The LPA preserves t he character of Lagoon Pond and all immediate adjacent areas:  to protecvt and enhance the area's natural beauty; to preserve the resources of the Lagoon and adjacent waters; to cooperate with all other civic and conservation groups concerned with pollution of MV waters and atmosphere; and to cooperate with governmental bodies and agencies to solve civic and environmental problems as they affect the Lagoon Pond area.

Major Programs:

Funding of on-going water quality testing for Lagoon Pond.

Priorities for 2004-2005:

1. Review Lagoon Pond DCPC regulations, Oak Bluffs and Tisbury town bylaws, and other regulations to identify areas that could be strengthened to protect Lagoon Pond's water quality.
2. Collaborate with other water conservation groups to apply for a grant to fund isotope analysis of Lagoon Pond water samples.
3. Develop Lagoon Pond Association web site.
4. Continue working to get the best approach for the permanent Lagoon Pond drawbridge replacement.
