Our homes are built with volunteer labor, donated materials and charitable donations. We believe that addressing the lack of affordable housing - one house at a time - will keep our Island a healthy, vital community.Major Programs: Habitat for Humanity of Martha's Vineyard (HFHMV) is a non-profit community housing developer and 0% mortgage lender serving incomequalified, first-time home buyer families and individuals earning 80% or less of the Area median Income in Dukes County. HFHMV has built about one house per year since 2002 using our unique development model which integrates volunteer labor, partner family "sweat equity" and in-kind donations. HFHMV's energy efficient design and use of re-purposed materials makes for an environmentally responsible build today while reducing energy costs tomorrow.
