Mission:
The Trustees of Reservations preserves, for public
use and enjoyment, properties of exceptional scenic, historic, and
econological value in Massachusetts. Since 1891, The Trustees of
Reservations has been savings the Massachusetts landscape for people to
enjoy. Our conservation work has helped protect more than 54,000 acres
across the state. We enjoy and care for more than 100 special
place--nearly 25,000--acres all around Massachusetts. And we are
actively building an extended family fo friends and neighbors across
the state that can help in their different ways. We are a nonprofit
organization supported by our 43,000 members.
On the Vineyard, The Trustees owns more than 1,550 acres, manages
another 300 acres for county, state and federal agencies as well as
holds more than 4,500 acres under Conservation Restrictions. These
properties include Cape Poge Wildlife Refuge, Leland Beach, Wasque
Reservation, Norton Point Beach, Mytoi, Long Point Wildlife Refuge,
Cape Poge Lighthouse, and Menemsha Hills Reservation.

Edgartown and West Tisbury
- Panoramic walking trails in Chilmark (Menemsha
Hills Reservation)
- Historic property protection (the Brickyard at
Menemsha Hills and Cape Poge Lighthouse)
- Rare habitat protection (Sandplain grasslands
and heath--Long Point Wildlife Refuge and Wasque Reservation)
- Rare shorebird monitoring and protection
program
- Oversand vehicle trail access and permitting
- Japanese garden operation (Mytoi,
Chappaquiddick Island)
- Public tours and education (Chappy and Long
Point Tours, Claire Saltonstall Public Programs)
