Mission:

The Vineyard Open Land Foundation (VOLF) is a nonprofit land use planning organization dedicated to the preservation of the natural beauty and rural character of Martha's Vineyard. Working with land owners and integrating a limited amount of well-planned human usage of the land, more than 2,035 acres of significant agricultural areas, wildlife habitats, shorelines of ponds and the ocean, public walking paths and archaeological sites, as well as scenic views from public roads, have been preserved. VOLF conducts its own projects by acquiring significant parcels of land, provides technical consulting assistance on land planning, including view easements, accepts donations of land and conservation restrictions and will provide conservation stewardship for these parcels.

Major Programs:
VOLF's largest, ongoing program is the renovation of the historic cranberry bog and processing barn that it owns at Cranberry Acres in Tisbury as an educational demonstration of sustainable organic cranberry agriculture and wetlands protection.
