Getting Going With Planned Giving

Baby Boomers are at prime planned giving ages and will transfer Trillions of dollars to charities in the coming years. This workshop is designed for Vineyard nonprofits that want to start, or are in the early years of, a Planned Giving program. You should bring whoever leads your development efforts, plus your Executive Director, Board Chair, Development Committee Chair and as many Board Members as possible so they can learn their important role in the process. The workshop will cover:

  • What is Planned Giving & Who Gives What & Why?
  • Trends in Philanthropy & Planned Giving,
  • The types of Planned Gifts,
  • How to Identify Prospects,
  • Best Practices in Planned Giving,
  • Building Your Own Planned Giving Program:
    • Setting Realistic Goals,
    • Tools, Tips & Strategies,
    • The Roles of the Board & the Staff,
    • Marketing & Budgeting,
    • How to Integrate it With Your Overall Development Plan,
    • How to Start the Conversation With Donors, and
    • You will Practice Requesting the Bequest.
  • You will leave with a “what, when and how” plan tailored to your organization so you can Get Going With Planned Giving!
$25 per person
The workshop will be led by Jan Adams, Director of Planned Giving at Mass Audubon, where she's grown their Legacy Society by 62% in less than 5 years, and where she trains staff at their sanctuaries on planned gifts and ways to initiate planned giving conversations with their members. Jan has a career as a leader in financial management with expertise in nonprofits, charitable giving, and private wealth advisory services. She has also served on the Boards of  the YWCA of Boston, Handel and Hayden Society and the Planned Giving Group of New England; and on the Planned Giving Advisory Group of the New York Public Library.  She has a BA from Tufts, a Masters of Education from Antioch and an MBA from Simmons.

Lunch is included.
You will be done by 3:30 at the latest.
