MV Agricultural Society Administrative Assistant- The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day administrative operations of the Society. The Youth Program Director will take an active role in planning camp staff training, program coordination in collaboration with the Executive Director, and identifying and working with our partners across the island to develop a robust program. Tennis Operations Director (New 2024) - to oversee our very active seasonal tennis program at the Chilmark Community Center. We want to encourage active play, skill strengthening and an engaging experience for all players. 2024 Summer Counselor Positions - The Chilmark Community Center (CCC) is looking for fun, enthusiastic and qualified Summer Camp Counselors to work with campers ages 3-14 during our seven-week summer camp program from July 3- August 18, 2023. The CCC is an active and carefree environment where campers can choose daily activities based on their interests with the guidance and support of camp staff. We are looking for energetic people to work with children in art, drama, sports, dance, group games, and STEAM. There are three options for camp counselor shifts 8:30a-12:30p, 12p-3p, or 8:30a-3p. Ideal candidates love working with children and will be willing and eager to participate in activities with campers daily. Estimated pay is $16-$22/hour based on experience and skills. The Yard is looking for a variety of positions to support our 2024 summer season: Summer Production Manager - in charge of all technical aspects of performances, workshops and engagement events. Summer Marketing Manager - oversee all marketing, promotion, box office and database management. Supervise marketing staff and volunteers. Sheriff's Meadow Foundation Cedar Tree Neck Ranger - The Cedar Tree Neck Ranger maintains trails, removes invasive species, cares for goats, supervises public use, monitors shorebirds, and performs other tasks, as directed. The Ranger reports to the Director of Stewardship and assists and works closely with the Land Stewards, Land Conservation Assistant and other Rangers. This position is a seasonal, hourly, non-exempt position consisting of up to 8 hours of work per day during the summer. The Ranger is not eligible for and does not receive benefits or holiday pay. Duration of Job: 4 months, roughly from May 13th through September 15th. Start and end dates can be adjusted. There is potential for the position to extend through the fall. Habitat Management Assistant - The Habitat Management Assistant removes invasive plant species, assists in habitat restoration projects, maintains trails and areas designated for visitor use, supervises public use on Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation Sanctuaries, and performs other tasks, as directed. The Habitat Management Assistant reports to and works closely with the Land Stewards. The Habitat Management Assistant rotates between Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary and 25 other conserved properties, working with Land Stewards, volunteers, and other staff. Habitat management tasks on multiple properties will include mowing, brushcutting, weeding, pruning, transplanting, watering, and inventorying and managing invasive species. At Sheriff’s Meadow Sanctuary, the Habitat Management Assistant will also greet the public, maintain trails, and enforce rules. This position is a seasonal, hourly, non-exempt position consisting of 8 hours of work per day during the summer, Monday through Friday. Farm Field Crew (Island Grown Farm)- We are seeking hard-working and community-oriented field hands to help us build soil and grow food throughout the 2024 growing seasons. Island Grown Initiative is a non-profit on Martha’s Vineyard that works to build a regenerative and equitable food system for our community. IT Assistant - The IT Assistant performs system maintenance and updates as appropriate. OBA runs 6 different events a year in the shoulder seasons. Pride in OB, Harborfest, Juneteenth, Tivoli Day, Halloween in OB, and the annual Tree Lighting, Light Up OB. All are Free and open to the public of all ages and abilities. Two of the events are Festivals or street fairs. Volunteer tasks: measuring booth space, and overseeing artisan/vendors booths during the course of the day. 4-5 hours. Clean up is usually done by merchants themselves. Juneteenth is a Day at Inkwell Beach...handing out popsicles, beverages or chips, maybe helping with an activity . Halloween and Christmas are out doors and usually assisting children, getting people to stay on the sidewalks, orchestrating crowds that are having fun. It's utter chaos but totally fun times for all. Usually we have musicians involved. Take your pick of events when timing is right. Pride Parade: Sat. Island Grown Initiative IGI Gleaning - Gleaning volunteers harvest produce from Island farms to share with the community. We spend extra time removing old leaves, checking for spots, and handling produce with care. Gleans take about an hour and a half and we have several gleans each week during summer and fall harvest seasons. Volunteers keep a share of the harvest for themselves. Healthy Aging MV Would you like to help Older Adults understand the risks of falling and how to lessen the likelihood of a fall in the future? We are looking for individuals who have a passion for helping the Island's Older Adult community. For a stipend of $200, you'll teach a class of about 15 Older Adults on how to understand the risks of falling and how to lessen the likelihood of falls. Specifically, you'll give weekly classes on "Preventing Falls." The course you'll be trained to give is called "Matter of Balance," the curriculum for which is licensed by Healthy Aging MV on behalf of the Island's 4 Councils on Aging (COAs). You'd work with HAMV and the COAs to identify an 8-week period that works with your schedule, then deliver a 2-hr class each week for 8 weeks. Big Brothers Big Sisters on MV is in need of Big Brothers to serve as mentors for the several boys on the waitlist. Bigs commit to a minimum of one year in the program and meet with their Little (mentee) two-three times a month for a few hours each time. The goal of the program is to provide an additional, positive adult, to help support a child that could benefit from positive 1:1 adult attention. We are looking for volunteers interested in helping out at our larger community events like the Agricultural Fair and Harvest Festival. Volunteers will usually deliver one day weekly, and will deliver to a specific area on the Island. The total commitment is about two hours, between 10 and noon, and mileage reimbursement is available. Meals are picked up at Elder Services of Cape Cod and the Islands M.V. office, located in the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. A CORI check is required. Year-round, seasonal, and substitute drivers are welcome.
